Time… We all have got 24 hours in a day. Some folks are way more productive than others and know how to make best use of time.
Amazing view on time by Arnold Benntt (Every line has a deep meaning) —
“Time is the inexplicable raw material of everything. With it, all is possible; without it, nothing. The supply of time is truly a daily miracle, an affair genuinely astonishing when one examines it. You wake up in the morning, and your purse is magically filled with twenty-four hours of the unmanufactured tissue of the universe of your life! It is yours. It is the most precious of possessions. A highly singular commodity, showered upon you in a manner as singular as the commodity itself! No one can take it from you. It is un-stealable. And no one receives either more or less than you receive.”
In the realm of time there is no aristocracy of wealth, and no aristocracy of intellect. Genius is never rewarded by even an extra hour a day. And there is no punishment. Waste your infinitely precious commodity as much as you will, and the supply will never be withheld from you. Moreover, you cannot draw on the future. Impossible to get into debt! You can only waste the passing moment. You cannot waste tomorrow; it is kept for you. You cannot waste the next hour; it is kept for you. I said the affair was a miracle. Is it not? You have to live on this twenty-four hours of daily time. Out f it you have to spin health, pleasure, money, content, respect, and the evolution of your immortal soul. Its right use, its most effective use, is a matter of the highest urgency and of the most thrilling actuality. All depends on that. Your happiness–the elusive prize that you are all clutching for, my friends!– depends on that. But if one cannot arrange that an income of twenty-four hours a day shall exactly cover all proper items of expenditure, one does muddle one’s life definitely. We never shall have any more time. We have, and we have always had, all the time there is.”
Clearly time is essential. We can earn money but we cannot earn time. We better should know how to manage our time effectively. Following are some key time management essentials (by Jim Rohn).
- Do you run the day or it runs you?
- It is not that difficult to get something started, you run it for a while and after that it started running you
- The time you have already committed to labor is already enough time
- if you are already working 8-10 hours that’s about it. You cannot really work much more than that in longer term. Burst at a time, we can work 12-14-16 hours but after some time you have to put your life is in balance or your health and heart is in jeopardy. Lots of things don’t stay in balance
- You don’t have to put more hours but do better use of the hours.
- It is not the hours you put in but what you put in the hours that counts.
- You should have written set of goals – and constant review of your goals. That’s how you determine how to use your time. Then need a plan to achieve the goals
